Warm Colors & Cool Colors: Paint Florals in Gouache

This tutorial is about practicing using warm colors and cool colors to paint florals in gouache. I like placing warm colors and cool colors side by side so I can clearly see how they create such different feels on the same work.

In this painting here, I divided the paper into six sections with random shapes. Three of them will be painted in warm colors while the other three in cool colors. Then, I drew florals across these sections. After that, I painted part of the florals in warm colors and the rest in cool colors. That is the idea of this painting.

You can read about my creative process for this tutorial in the blog post here.

This activity is developed from my Skillshare class: Paint Warm & Cool Colors in Gouache, where I explain how warm colors and cool colors work and demonstrate using a warm color palette and a cool color palette to paint the same subject.

Happy creating!
