The idea of thumbnail designs might be good for practicing making patterns. So I have created this tutorial to show how to practice pattern designs in thumbnails in Procreate. I have set a limitation of only using colors and shapes to draw these patterns. Using a couple of blend modes on layers creates some visual interest in my work.

Please enjoy this tutorial and see if you could also challenge yourself to create some pattern designs in this way.
