Color Saturation: Learn to Paint Tones in Gouache

Explore color saturation by painting tones in a house illustration in gouache.

I drew crossing lines across the page and used them to form the shapes of the houses. I picked some colors from my gouache set and mixed them with light gray and dark gray to create a number of tones. Then, I used all these colors to paint the houses.

This tutorial is developed from my Skillshare class: Paint Color Wheel in Gouache, where I explain common color terms in detail including hue, saturation, value, tint, tone, & shade.

You can read about my creative process for this tutorial in the blog post here.

Enjoy the tutorial and see if you could paint some houses using a few colors and tones .

Happy creating!
